MINISTER RAMOKGOPA EXTENDS PUBLIC COMMENTS PERIOD ON THE ELECTRICITY SECTOR MARKET TRANFORMATION POSITION PAPER AND REVISED ELECTRICITY PRICING POLICY 

The Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, in the spirit of promoting maximum public participation has acceded to the requests from various organisations and individuals to extend the closing date for the submission of written public comments of the   Electricity Sector Market Transformation Position paper (ESMTPP) and the Revised Electricity Pricing Policy (REPP). 

The two policy documents were published on the 21st and 28th August 2026 respectively  and Minister Ramokgopa has now extended the public comment submission period to  the 28th of October 2026 for both documents.  

The Electricity Sector Market Transformation Position Paper, 2026 was published for public comment on 21 August 2026 under Government Notice No. 7841 in Government Gazette No. 55226. 

The Revised Electricity Pricing Policy, 2026 was subsequently published for public comment on 28 August 2026 under Government Notice No. 7852 in Government Gazette No. 55257. 

Members of the public, industry stakeholders, organisations and other interested parties are encouraged to use the extended period to study the respective policy documents and submit their views and recommendations.

Written comments must be submitted on or before 28 October 2026 through any of the following channels:

Comments must be addressed to the Director-General, Department of Electricity and Energy, for the attention of Ms Vusani Ramuntshi. 

SUBMISSION OF COMMENTS: REVISED ELECTRICITY PRICING POLICY 

Written comments must be submitted on or before 28 October 2026 through any of the following channels:

  • Email: EPP.Comments@dee.gov.za

Comments must be addressed to the Director-General, Department of Electricity and Energy, for the attention of Mr Joseph Maraba. 

Individuals and organisations submitting comments are requested to provide their name, address, contact telephone number, fax number and email address. 

The Department encourages all interested parties to participate in the public consultation process and make use of the additional time provided to submit their written views. 

Comments received after 28 October 2026 will not be considered.
